Hate Bono

It’s like a group you were into before they broke big, I hated Bono and saw him for the phoney he is YEARS before it was cool to hate him. But now the tide has really turned and it’s acceptable to hate Bono.

When I was making The Shiznit I was working on an idea to dedicate an entire issue to Bono and would constantly google the term ‘hate bono’ to see what I could find. The thrust of my attack was how much of a hypocrite he is and my evidence was skimpy to be honest. But now there are hundreds of articles online from the most prestigious of newspapers about our boy Bono’s antics.

Forget the music and artistic side of things, everybody can agree that they had some classic songs years ago but now they are treading water. His attempts to out ‘Geldof’ Geldof were cringe worthy, the list is endless, that photo with him striding GW Bush is damning enough but now there are actual facts to back up the slander. There was an article on The Telegraph website a few weeks ago that heaps on the shame. Taking all of his money out of Ireland for tax reasons has left him unable to criticise the government, we all knew about that but the article goes on to explain how his anti-poverty charity ONE has spent $8 million on salaries.

Then he pulls some manufacturing of the EDUN clothes line (Set up to encourage industry and alleviate poverty in Africa) from Africa in favour of cheaper China! Listen I understand it’s a business but it’s just funny. So is his being Editor of The Independent, it’s hilarious.

I have to say I’m really happy about all this.

Below is an extremely crude and childish thing I made about 6 years ago. There are a few good bits in it.
