The Cheater and Free Irish Comic Day

I was looking back some of the old Twisted Tales I’ve done and was surprised to see that I don’t completely hate my artwork. There’s usually a 3-4 month retrospective window where everything you’ve done looks shit. Or maybe I’m just not getting any better!

This story was done in an odd style, lots of grey tones and cartoonish faces but it holds up, there’s a fair few ropey panels of course but a lot of it is good. Man I can’t even look at MBLEH anymore, thankfully I’ve sold most of them but I’ll be giving away a couple hundred of them as part of Free Irish Comic Day this October. Ah well, if there was no MBLEH there would be no Amperduke so it was worth it just for that.

Giving away mbleh for free?you`d have to pay me to take that rag!seriously though, you`d be hard-pressed to find someone into Irish comics who hasn`t read mbleh already…
I have to admit I think the twisted tales are some of your finest work.We had a teacher in my primary that looked exactly like that sour bitch in that first panel.she had a crappy spine or something so she wasn`t really in that often and one of the substitutes we had was a real cunt,so we didn`t do any work for days on end and we did a whole bunch of other shit to piss her and the principal(I honestly can`t remember why we thought it would be a clever idea to piss the principal off,but it made sense at the time…)off and in the end the sub went off her rocker and started crying and the principal had a nervous breakdown.good times

Good old Irish comics. Man I’ve still got loads of my mini comics which I made when I was about 16! 10 years later they are looking a liiiiiiiiiiiiiitttle rough! It was a cool time though, you remember that comic Surge? Some dude from Bray ran it with a load of (some pretty fookin good) artists. He burned me so I started my own. I remember there were a few minis out at the time, Riot, colometres Davis, Shinju- DOPE FIENDS!!!!! That was tops.
I always keep my eyes peeled in Sub City and forbidden planet for what evers getting made by the kids at the minute.
Man those bastards in reeds were for ever breaking the folding and stapling machine.

Hey Luke, yeah The TT’s are my favs aswell, have some great ones coming up soon. I was talking to a friend about teachers and nervous breakdowns recently, EVERYBODY has the same story about the couple of teachers who lost it. In my old age I feel really sorry for them but at the time it was like challenge to break them.

Yeah PMC, I was around 18-19 when that wave of comics was happening here, met the Surge dude, he didn’t like my stuff. I remember he was on Echo Island on RTE the clown. I never got into handmade comics, too lazy man! MBLEH should have been a xerox job to start off with
