Modok
Friday, May 29th, 2009Spazzmoid and the Eclectic Micks has sort of killed off this blog but it’ll be back. I’m nearly ready to resume normal life.
I drew Modok for the Eclectic Micks this week, that little fucknut from Fantastic Four

Gerald Mannix Flynn is running for the European elections and I’m voting for him. Yeah yeah yeah I know I dissed him and his antics a few years ago but now I don’t really care about it.
Yes, he was a member of the Arts Council who received a grant from the Arts Council when I was lying starving by the roadside clutching at peoples legs to try fund the development of an Irish comics industry but after reading his work and learning more about the generally universal crooked funding I calmed down. The whole affair is sickening still even though they have appeared to have reformed a fair bit.
He’s a chancer. So am I, so is my Da, so are most of my mates. If I can get a stroke I’ll take it. I don’t regret attacking him though, he was the perfect example and the exact opposite of a soft target. Imagine if I called out some chode who writes for The Dubliner or something? It’d have no clout.
We all appear to be dissatisfied with the current government so what have we got to lose by electing somebody who rules with the heart instead of the head. His manifesto is good, including a re-evaluation of arts in the community. Which basically means stop paying NCAD drop outs to smoke rollies in between teaching smack head how to model their feelings in clay.
So vote Mannix or that creepy black lad who has tiny posters. Nice fokkin’ campaign colours Mannix! Blue and green should never be seen without a colour in between.
Ah who am I joshin? I’m not voting for anybody. But maybe you should.
This has been the easiest, wedding caricature yet. I’ve just set up a new site for my caricature pictures here, presenting ….Caricature Gifts.ie
I bought the basic Manga Studio last week and it’s fucking deadly. I’ll deffo do the 24 hour comics challenge this year in about 8 hours with this.
My rendition of Gargamel over on the Micks today AND a great Uncle Spunk Nuggedy Wuggedy
Sad news from the UK a few months ago, The DFC, a great comic for kids has gone bust. It really is a shame. The comic was a shining example of what a comic could be. It had no ads and no cheap free gifts tacked to the front. And sadly that’s what probably killed it.
I looked into producing a kids comic around the time that I brought out The Shiznit, I had a connection in China when I worked in the souvenir biz that could make PVC keychains etc of my characters and it was really tempting. But after hanging around Tesco watching the buying habits of kids it just turned me off the idea.
As far as I know, The DFC was available for one week in Tesco and it didn’t do well. It was sold only online and through subscription. It’s a shame, I was going to send them a big submission but will now just make it an online thing or a kids book.
Save the DFC is a blog where former contributors are trying to organise a ’subscriber buy out’. It’s a great idea. Kids deserve something like this and not just those glossy, photo laden free gift things. I suppose it just reflects human taste, adults lap up the same vacuous publications only they’re about soap operas instead of Hanna Montana.
There’s a new Irish comic being launched today upstairs in Anseo Public House, 18 Camden Street Lower, Dublin 2. I’ve already seen it and it is by far the best Irish comic yet excluding of course Amperduke but it pisses jets of caustic goo all over MBLEH etc.
Shit website though.
Ger Shanley and Cathal Duggan really put the work in and it looks great. Check out Cathal’s work here, brilliant line work. I really hate putting the links in on posts, it’s a nightmare.
What esle…Boz has a new collection of his strips out, worth the 6 Euros alone for the afterword. Boz’s new blog is one of the few sites that I check every few days. If you have an interest in Irish punk and zines then this is for you. Boz’s Nosebleed zine was a big inspiration and an eye opener to me when I was in my teens.
And lastly, as its Friday I’m dropping thick custardy loads of Uncle Spunk Nugget all over your face again
If you’re bored you can watch a bunch of lads make an old timey cannon then fire a giant rat at a baddies neck
And a 3 second classic
yeah so I’m posting filler. What are YOU going to do about it?
Just a quickie. Normal posting will start again next week. We went to that Black market event last Sunday. Nice vibes and it’s a great place. Some of the little anarchist flakes were very textbook. We all got fed and one girl opted not to use the forks provided and instead scoop the stuff into her mouth with her hand.
What a twit.
I can’t stop thinking about it.
It’s me, it’s me; it’s B.O.B.
Back once again for the Renegade Master. SPAZZMOID is happening today aswell as the Micks
No doubt you’ve seen this already but it deserves as much attention as possible. ‘It went all the way up my gowl and it’s big’.
This Sunday I’ll be at The Black Market.

Selling big boxes of Daz and those Capri Suns you crazy kids can’t get enough of and trying to buy some weed from some New Agers.
And a fond farewell to Blue Iris who passed away this week.
