Mice traps outside

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

I moved into a new apartment and the grounds are all very well maintained by oompah loompahs or invisible caretakers. Every thing is spotless. But this morning I noticed there are little green boxes dotted around outside to catch mice or rats. I think it’s unfair. Yeah you can kill every pest INSIDE the apartment block but is it right to kill them outside? In their own environment. It’s like arresting people before they commit the crimes in Minority Report.

I fucking hate rats and mice. I’m like a menopausal wuss when I see them. But neh, I think it’s weird to kill them outside. After clawing acres of greenery away to build houses we should leave them little tea party sets and top hats instead of poison.

Finally got down to some artwork last night and its like a weight off my shoulders. These lads are for a new Twisted Tales

Spacesuit implosion and Oz

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Bloaw!! Just finishing up another Twisted Tales this week. It’s a good old fashioned monster vs astronauts on a space station thing. There’s a couple of implosion scenes. I presume if you’re in a space suit and it gets cracked or breached all your guts get sucked out through the hole? Is that even true? It was fun to draw though. I might even give it a second go, I wanted to show the pelvis bone coming out through the fingers.

With the Cintiq acting as a second screen now I watch things on my big monitor when I draw, not all the time but a few hours a week. I don’t have a television so it’s all downloads, been watching OZ back to back and it’s deadly. Some sloppy writing in the first few but it really gets strong fast. But I have to say that the theme tune and opening credits are AWFUL, you’d turn it off if wasn’t for the quick glimpse of a bum rape. Same with The Wire and The Sopranos too, the opening music is fantastically shit

Daddybag Song

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

After I posted about my surprise attack on my nutsack a few weeks ago, Erok penned a tune to commemorate the event of my daddybag getting ruptured. I’m touched (not in the gay way) and honoured (in the gay way) that people go to the effort. Check out his blog here and the song here

Cheers Erok!

MashfAce News

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

Just back from me hols to hear the good news that MashFace are wrapping up the new album after getting signed. MashFace are my favourite band and time permitting I hope to cameo on the next album. You like my work then you’ll love this shit. The hotlinks to the tracks from the first album are below. I’m going to make the video to ‘MashfAce Loves Piracy’. Brilliant song.

Here’s the good word:

yo yo yo scrud buckets.

We’re still maxing and relaxing in L.A. working on the MashfAce major
label debut.

The hookers here piss all over the hookers in Dublin. Its going to be
depressing going back to Wonky eyed Miriam down the canals.

In a whorish lead up to the album coming out heres direct links to the
first cds songs in the ever so popular mp3 format.

Download, distribute, destroy n all that jazz

DEVO playing in Dublin

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Ah yes, how sweet it is. My life has taken a series of well deserved major good turns over the past while and then to top it all off I find out that DEVO are playing this summer. This is unreal. They are in my top 5 favourite bands and I had sort of resigned myself to the fact that I’d never see them. The three bands that I’d give my left nut to see would be Dead Kennedys, The Clash and Devo and although I saw the awful new Dead Kennedys it doesn’t count.

They’ve been a big influence on me and several references to DEVO pop up in my comics. That SHRIVEL UP comic in MBLEH gets it’s name from one of their songs and then there’s this:

quiet time

The cwazy thing about them though is that I HATE alot of their stuff. Sweet sufferin jaysus, some of their later material is woeful. But I suppose you can only be pioneers for so long before you end up second guessing yourself. And that recent DEV0 2.0 nonsense is just callous. But I still love them dearly despite all this and can’t wait to see them live and hopefully buy a proper energy dome so I can get rid of my homemade one.

The Freak Show launch was deadly, thank you one and all to all the strangers who bought me pints. Dec’s new Freak Show bumper edition came out on the day, just delivered straight from Ivan’s which was another highlight. Looks deadly. And here, look at the cover to the Your Round comic that I contributed to, really is amazing and it will definitely stand out and do the biz.

Done another stand in for Frank over at the Bif and the Sniff.

Here, I have a customised google homepage where it gives me a new japanese word a day and news and all that but I also get a ‘How To’ each day. Mostly they’re lame like how to fold a hankerchief and how to grow a pineapple but this one made me splutter.

How to appreciate Death Metal.

Death Metal has been a secret love of mine for years, none of my mates are into it or ever were but I just love it. So go and
appreciate it like these fine patrons

Dr Worm

Found this video yesterday and can’t stop watching it. Nickelodeon has turned some of They Might be Giants tracks into animated shorts and this one is brilliant. Really uplifting and if you don’t like it you smell.

The band also do a deadly podcast so give it a go.

Subhumans tonight

Friday, December 1st, 2006

Wahey. Last day in work. Not as thrilled as I originally imagined because of ‘The Unpleasantness’ with Hayley but fuck it, I’m glad to get out of here. I have absolutely no interest in it anymore.

Going to see The Subhumans tonight with Brian, haven’t been to a gig in ages. They’re a great band and from all reports and youtubes are sounding deadly. I hope they’re selling cd’s at the gig because all I have are a few ratty cassettes. When I was around 15 I had a stack of copied tapes filled with the best of punk and metal but there was no guarantee that the name on it matched the albums. So I didn’t actually know I was listening to The Subhumans for about a year.

Deadly.

Crazy that you can now download songs, check lyrics, converse with fans and even band members instantly instead of clumsily fumbling your way towards the music you like.
