Hate List: Phoney shirt wearing cover versions

Here’s a palm sized pile of steaming hate from the Hate Extravganza.

hate list preview 2

Yeah it’s seems I’m not alone with the phoney t-shirt thing. I find the wearing of shirts with band names on them something that should be stopped around 16 anyway. Yeah, you like Led Zeppelin and are wearing a shirt with Led Zeppelin on it, well done and thanks for letting us know. What is it? Hoping that a female Zeppelin fan will see it and want to suck your dick because you’re her type? But wearing a shirt as part of some look as mentioned above has got to be a million times worse. You cunts.

The cover version thing…….I hate it. Does it make sense?

The books thing, I think everyone can relate to that one because I think we’ve all been guilty of it to a point. Sometimes you just love a book and can’t shut up about it. But please shut up. The DaVinci Code, The General and The Joy are prime examples of this.

    Love the Hotel California game….ha!

  2. Bob Byrne Says:

So you know what I mean? Another one is bad cover versions that sound EXACTLY like the original. Heard an Elvis Costello track on Phantom the other day and thought it must have been a b-side/demo but it was somebody trying to re-interpret it and it sounded EXACTLY THE FUCKING SAME. Why bother?
would you trace over a comic? Well maybe you would…..

  3. Brian Says:

    Is that……..

    maybe you “would”

    -or-

    maybe “you” would

    meeeoooowwww

  4. Poncho Says:

    moan moan moan

why did you buy that kamen rider shirt on ebay a while ago?
planning on some asian business man seeing it and sucking you off?

  5. Robbie Says:

    lol @ brian’s comment…

yeah…most pointless example was Westlife’s Uptown Girl. Sounded almost exactly the same. I actually got rid of all my Westlife CDs then, cos they just weren’t the same to me anymore

    *sniff*

  6. Robbie Says:

By the way, the amount of blow jobs I’ve been offered on the strength of it, I’m so glad I forked out 20 euro on my Dr Who Tshirt.

  7. Poncho Says:

if you really want to rant about shirts , what about those poxy hidden but obvious wacky sexual inuendo shirts? 5uck 3y di5k n all that shit. does me head in!

If you want to be a pervert and hopefully pick up women based on a fucking tshirt why not be straight out about it and get one that says “I have increasingly low standards and have more booze back in my gaff, and some viagra incase i get the flop”, works everytime!

i know i’m going to be slated for this one, but uh… what about bands who do cover versions because they’re doing what they love and they love certain songs by other artists so they sing em?

I mean, as far as i know it’s pretty hard to make money doing covers so mostly it’s either for the love of it, a tribute, or for exposure.

So apart from those trying get some exposure on the back of someone elses talent, I do think there are instances where you know it’s for different reasons of merit.

Do you hate Nouvelle Vague or the Czars? You probably do… I’ll just shut up now.

I really shouldn’t try rationally arguing about Clamnuts rants really, I think it’s a symptom of my tiredness right now.

liked the ramones t-shirt bit, I’m sure you would share my ‘hate list’ entry of similar people who wear superman t-shirts yet have no knowledge or love of comics? or the one’s who wear camp t-shirts of old movies they’ve never seen, fair play to ya, must bring these mooks to task more often.

Will be havin pints in Dublin on the 20th of dec if you’re around, would be good to see ya, out meetings seem to be constantly thwarted, hang in there dude.

  10. Hurk Says:

Yeah, that whole t-shirt thing is rubbish, burtons or whatever shop selling the ‘rock fan look’ with a led zepellin logo on a messed up shirt. D’ya reckon the bands get anything out of it, they must do?!
I saw someone in the street the other day, looking well proud with a t-shirt on that said ‘HORNY CUNT’! i’m sure it was only 50% correct though.

  11. Bob Byrne Says:

Ah the ‘humour’ shirts don’t bother me that much. Again its a cry for help, hoping that people will come up to and laud you for your zany stlye.

I only wear kamen rider stuff when I’m watching it, never go out in it.

The cover versions, I love cover versions when done right, when the it’s given a whole new slant and sounds new as opposed to predictable wastes of time. Metallica’s Whiskey in the Jar was just on the radio. Nuff said. What would interest me is if they covered a Gene Pitney or a Dickie Valentine. And not in the Hayseed Dixie way.

Theres that covers podcast if you’re interested, found it on Lorcs site
    http://www.coverville.com/

Yeah Lorcs pints on the 20th.
