Kings of Concrete 2008

Grinding and winding, popping and locking it’s way back to Wood Quay for 2, count em, TWO days this year, It’s the annual Kings of Concrete festival organised by the sterling fellows at Micromedia; the shams responsible for polluting 100’s of locations with scalding hot globs of The Shiznit.
Last year was deadly but this year looks to be even more deadlier with tonnes more events, comps and activities. It’s a family friendly event so bring the kids, there’s something for everyone, there’s too much to take in at times, lads on ramps, girls gyrating to the beats, weirdo’s playing hackysack, fantastic graffiti demo’s, some clown drawing a big comic, ollie competitions….loads of things. Everybody is welcome, except the people I’m avoiding, you know who you are so don’t show up.
Yeah I’m down with the kids, I’m going to bust my fokking moves ragga style and trip into an ill two step checka checka one time. Visit the myspace page here
Here’s the video from last year
And here’s the comic I drew last year. I’ll be doing another one on the Sunday.
I was a bad skateboarder, only realised that I was more into decorating decks after a couple of years of dicking around. It’s like William Burroughs, reading about his life is fun but actually reading his work is horrible.
So that’s the 26th and 27th July, Wood Quay in Dublin.

How the fuck do you get allowed anywhere near these events for kids when you’ve been known to autograph your comics with shit like “free the paedos”?
On a less stupid note, good to see you’re being given permission to deface what I assume is public property again…

Yeah Dublin City Council are swell guys really…..or are they??? No, fair play to them.
And it was Frida Petos, my favourite Spanish harpist not Free the Paedos

Yeah yeah Byrne, backpedal harder why don’t you. Here, are you gonna be along for 24 hour comic day again this year?

Heh, I was thinking I might try and get my tablet working with my eeepc, would be cool to have a portable drawing setup. Would have to learn my way around GIMP to make proper use of it though…

“I might be away…”
are you sure you didn`t get Birmingham and 24 Hour dates mixed together?
July 15th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
i’ll be buzzing in to see you and all the hip young thangs borb.
July 16th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
I’ll be there, do you have to register to skate on the ramps or something?
July 16th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
I was at last years one and you could get a shot on the ramps no problem, you obviouisly have to register for the comps etc. Last year was deadly, met Mr Byrne, got a sketch off him and smoked a blunt with him. Dya’ remember B?

Yeah I might be away in October, still don’t know about Birmingham, last year was hilarious though. As far as I know you can just queue up to skate in an orderly fashion. Yep Chang I remember meeting you, you crazy ill raggamuffin you.
Remember in the 80’s when you’re forbidden to do the Superman on your shitty skateboard because some kid got reversed over by his Da?

I put some great old school skating clips from youtube on my blog.
I was always a crap skater and I knew it, but street skating seems to have gone from merely ‘Wow!’ to ‘Holy Balls! How the fuck?’
Burroughs’s artwork is creepy.
