Cards
Busy little bear today so here’s a quickie, these are some of the cards I’ve made people. My first paying gig was making greeting cards, ended badly though. I know Crumb started out doing card illustration too. I got a mention in the last Judge Dredd Megazine
as ‘Ireland’s R Crumb, Bob Byrne’. Sounds good to me!!
I’m such a dope, I only read his stuff about 2 years ago and really should have checked him out sooner. I’ve copied the way he does speech balloons.
Chalk and pen
Diggy-digital.
Working on a few new ones for new babies and a wedding. Blammo.

Nice- I used to be a huge crumb nut. Pick up ‘R.Crumbs coffee table Art Book’ its really good. I also starting getting the ‘Complete’ Crumb Vols which are well worth a look- in particular Fritz the Cat vol which is excellent.
Also rent Crumb if you havnt seen it!

Crumbs short about Philip K dick is mad - MAAaaaaaad!
November 15th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
Yeah, the K Dick thing is deadly. He really is a master, for sheer draughtmanship, invention and outright craziness, Saw the Crumb doc and Bonzo gave me another I’ve yet to watch. I have tons of illegally downloaded comics of his too. He’s brilliant and deserves all the praise. Even being compared to me.

And lets not forget his championing of the small mans lust for, and awe of big juicy thick legged female rump. Ma humps….

Aw yeah the birds are incredible and now and then you see the odd arse and you realise that the Crumb physique DOES exist

And imagine Crumb has seen your comics too! well he has seen the few we published in Toenail Clippings, as i stuffed them into his nuerotic hands at his retrospective exhibition in the SEX museum in Paris some years ago.

have to say the “Ireland`s R Crumb” remark isn`t far off
a lot of you`re stuff reminds me of his,i.e his regular rants and anatomy and the like…
you`re work is a bit less filthy than his though.a BIT…

Ireland’s R. Crumb! Deadly! Yeh, love Crumb, though I’m more of a Freak Brothers man, but Crumb is fakking excellent… wish I had his patience for cross-hatching, but that would be bordering on autistic…
November 16th, 2007 at 8:55 am
Wahey Bren! Nice one for that.
Yeah I was big into the freak brothers as a kid too, the cross hatching is easy compared to the actual drawing though when you think about it. Met
Big Jim from Northern Lights and he was bigging you up Bonzo.

Mr Byrne could have been as filthy.
If only he had the courage to run with the filthy star trek script.

I would love an original Crumb, but alas I don’t have 20 grand. Hopefully you become as famous, then I can flog that original I have and make a squillion. I will be rich and live like a king - you however, will be poor, reduced to sketching fat ugly ladies. Ah, the injustice of it all.

Ah fuck. I’m going to have to stop writing that column drunk. I take it all back.
