What could have been….
Following on from the comments in the previous post, here is an 8 page story that I drew of the Morbid Milton character, I agreed to do it for free and it was fun. The colouring job is amazing but the lettering is shit.
This story ran in a mag called Cryptic and I’ve never seen it, wasn’t even sent a copy. Beware of internet collaborations kids. Beware of collaborations in general, people can’t be trusted. I hate working with people on things. My favourite saying is ‘A camel is a horse designed by committee’. I say it all the time.
After this I agreed to draw a 3 part series for a nominal fee, just to get some stuff published in the US. Then the mention of money disappeared and I was held ransom to draw the other 2 issues so I decided to walk and keep the character I designed. The artwork is a little ropey as it was banged out around 2 and a half years ago

tis a very good lesson for people to hear and learn - lots of people out in internet land offering work for little or no money and they think you should be happy to do it. Just before xmas I got asked to do a 4 page comic about twin boys going on safari in africa - full colour, design all the characters etc etc how much? $60 for the whole lot.
if you ever want a good laugh check out http://Guru.com/ its a sit listing art jobs and some of the posts are funny - people looking for lots for spec work or offering $20 for 100+ drawings

Forgot about that one - loved the design work. Mad science stuff is your shtick for real Bobbins.
Yes - there are loads of Nerds who think they can write and lust for artists to turn their shit to gold. Guru is funny for twats all right. This is an ad currently up on digital webbing clearly from someone sick of emails from ignorant wanna-be-Ellis’.
“Artist looking for writer that has script for submission to image. Writer must have no money to pay upfront and only a vague gaurantee of back end once picked up. Please be condiscending and have poorly written adolescent scripts.”
Bob is right. It’s everyman for himself!

Man, thats some great stuff Bob. Shame it fell through, I’d love to see what you’d have churned out given 3 issues to play with. Sorry to hear you got Byrned by the writer (you see what I did there?).
Anyway, let us know when the next book is out, some of us have money just waiting to be given to you…

Just realised that the guy who wrote that turns up on pretty much all the major message boards acting very smug.
He’s had a much of stuff published by Shadowline I do believe - Bob, you missed out on he chance to draw “Edgar Allen Poo.” I’ll bet you’re kicking yourself.
