Your Round comic: Tequila

I’ve just realised over the past few weeks that there a stack of secret fans of my work, people who dig what I do but have never commented on the website or dropped me a mail. The Shiznit so far has totalled around 70,000 copies in circulation so I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that a percentage of readers are intrigued by the rest of my nonsense.

So it struck me that alot of you missed out on Tequila. I have a 6 page story in it called Say a Prayer for me which I wrote around this time last year while depressed silly because my life was completely fucked. It’s a real story and it packs a punch, one of the first serious auto-bio stories that I’ve drawn.

Dec who published it hasnt put it through Diamond Comic Distributors yet and a handful appear now and then in the shops over here. You can order copies directly from him for a nominal fee. DshalveyATgmailDOTcom or through here

I’ve posted the first two pages here, little text heavy and not really representational of the story (I reveal myself as a vampire at the end. No. This is a GOOD comic). View them on the Flickr page if you want to read the text

This wonderfully designed site has been nominated for a Irish Blog award and voting is closed so I missed out on that one. Design? What about the all jaysis comics and silly crap I put up every week. Fuck’s sake. I know Frank did a great job on the design but where’s the Best Art Blog nomination? Ah who cares. Eagles all the way.

So if you want to get a glimpse into my incredibly sensitive soul buy Tequila. A copy of Amperduke wouldn’t hurt either.

I wanted to pick up Your Round, but couldn’t due to geographical inconvenience. Will be pestering that Shalvey fella for one presently, I think.

Looking forward to the autobiographical stuff you were talking about too. Although part of me misses the Mbleh style of jokes about strange children keeping their poo in jars…

  2. Bob Byrne Says:

Well you’re in luck my real life involved being a strange kid who kept poo in jars

  3. PMC Says:

    Really? Animal.

  4. Ger Says:

I read it when it came out, really is a good story Bob albeit a tad gay. I’d love to see more of your autobiographical stuff. Get your heart broken again, go on, do it for your fans

  5. Bob Byrne Says:

Using the word albeit is gay

  6. Eoin Says:

I’ve only noticed that “zooming-in” yoke on Flickr. God, I wondered why your pics always had crap sizes and unreadable text…
Might get that off Shalvey sometime. Maybe at the next con he’ll be at, whenever that’ll be…

  7. phil Says:

ah you’re an awful tease Bob with just 2 pages. Class stuff though - I wish you’d more regularly do more of this sort of thing.

  8. Stephen Mooney Says:

One of yer best I think Bobbo.

  9. Bob Byrne Says:

Thanks lads. Yep I’m happy with that story, will be working on a new ’serious’ piece for a secret project that Cliodhna is devising. Stay tuned for that.

Yeah the zooming in on Flickr is great. Some artists post full resolution images and you could sell them as prints becasue the quality is so good

Hello all, Declan Shalvey esq here.

You can order Your Round; Tequila at http://www.asylum-booksandgames.com/shop or paypal me directly at dshalv@yahoo.com and i’ll send it onto ya. It’s quite good and goes down easy, unlike actual tequila.

  11. Stephen Mooney Says:

    But a lot like Dec.
