Nice one lads! Leave me alone, it was finished 6 months ago, it’s just a struggle trying to fit in assembling a book with all the other comic work and a 9-5 AND a life. Fuck it, I hate hearing people talk about how busy they are. Except me.

  4. cliodhna Says:

  22. Bob Byrne Says:

Hey pals!! Thanks for the feedback and kind words. Keep em coming, comments are my heroin.

You can order the fucker now for 15lids including postage, drop me a mail. New ordering page should be up in a day or two.

Nechradon similar to the Cloverfield monster? I just googled it to check, half hoping it was so I could get cranky with them. Neh, not much similarity I think.

Hope everyone can make it to the launch. Don’t be weird about talking to me, come up and pinch my arse or whatever. At the Freak Show launch a few heads were cagey about approaching me but don’t be so lame. The launch is a chance to meet up with the readers and sink a few pints. I’ll be wearing the red dungarees.

  23. cliodhna Says:

Bob we didn’t want to tell you but its not that people are cagey or feel weird about taking to you - its cus you smell………bad……really bad…….I’m going to go order my copy now.

  24. The Forbidden Planet International Blog Log » Bob Byrne’s Amperduke Says:

[...] The one and only Bob Byrne will be launching his brand-new work, the 160 page Mister Amperduke, “a story in pictures”, on Valentine’s Day in the Bernard Shaw pub in Portobello, Dublin (”You cant miss it, it’s covered in graff art.”) and the pub’s walls will be hosting an exhibition of Bob’s artwork for several weeks - my advice is to have a look at them when you go in then have a look again after several pints of Guinness then try and deconstruct them in your head. I’m not saying this approach will help you reach a deeper understanding of Bob’s art, but it will give everyone else in the pub some amusement as they watch you. The book is available to order direct from Bob’s site and he has full details on there for the book (he will be giving away some signed pages with the first orders as a very nice bonus) and the upcoming launch. Bob was one of the artists held up as a fine example at the Hi-Ex panel on Indy comics (I’m sure it will amuse Bob to think of people saying he is a role model) as one of the creators who has really understood how to work in the small press scene successfully, so you should go and have a look at his site. (thanks to Cliodhna for the heads-up)     Print this Story    Send to a Friend [...]

  25. LiamG Says:

In the film there’s bits where it looks a tiny bit like Nechradon. Those google images of the monster look totally different I agree.

  26. Dec Says:

“Bob was one of the artists held up as a fine example at the Hi-Ex panel on Indy comics”

  29. Bob Byrne Says:

Hey pals, Fair play Dec! You’re the bestest pimp a girl could ever wish for.
Luke it wont be in the shops for a while, might be able to drop a few into Forbidden Planet next week.

Frank!! Gulp, I’ll give you a call about my ‘dedicated ordering page’, struggling with it.

  30. Jim Connolly Says:

    Congrats man,

  40. lorc Says:

ah young bob a tron, thanks so much for the copy, have read it about 6 times already a fawning blog post is in the writing, right now! fawning’s the wrong word it’s a true academiwank review for a great great work dude, the tagline should me ‘you’ll believe a man can cry…over wee lego men’…genius

  41. Bob Byrne Says:

Thanks lads. Luke, each panel is about 2×4 inches I’d say, I drew them really big. Just for you.

Fanks Dec, means alot to me when my peers (and bum chums) appreciate it. Same to you Lorcs, looking forward to your academic take on it. You fucking chancer you. Nah, only messing. There IS alot in the book, alot of emotional stuff and questions to mull over.

    I love you all dearly.

  43. cliodhna Says:

woohoo I love getting mail! Book looks sooooo much better in person, I wasn’t gone on the cover when I saw it online but in person it looks fantastic - the print job is very good as well, big chocolate cookie to your printers Bob. Off to read!

  44. frankp Says:

Got my copy today… it’s beautiful. Haven’t read it yet, but the print job is lovely. I liked the cover when I saw it online, but as cliodhna says, in the flesh it’s even better. Looking forward to reading it after work!

  45. Bob Byrne Says:

Thanks peoples! Yep I splashed out on the matt cover, just for you. I’d really love to do have a spot uv with a gatefold cover but maybe for the next one. In 45 years time

  46. the chancer » Blog Archive » Get Your Geek On: Meet The Illustrated Men Says:

[...] Two essential art-related events for all you comic-book fans ina Dublin stylee: Chancer fave Bob ‘Clamnuts’ Byrne has finally completed his eagerly anticipated graphic novel Mr. Amperduke (pictured) and is launching the bladdy thing at the Bernard Shaw pub on Thursday, AKA Valentine’s Day. The very same evening that the Monster Truck Gallery happens to be opening a new show by essential illustator Chris Judge (who just launched his new blog HERE) and his mate Fergal Brennan, entitled Ink 69. What are the chances that two of the finest illustrators in Dublin have events on the same evening? It’s like Fiddy and Kayne all over again. Except with pictures, as opposed to words. The Chancer, regrettably, will have to pass. We have a prior engagement with a lovely laydee, see… That’s right, we’re bringing our mammy to bingo. 47. OneForTheRoad Says:

Dude you may just have saved my Valentines night from an evening of wallowing in self pity.

    Just ordered it there.

  48. Paul Says:

Its tomorrow. Just one more FLIPPIN DAY TO GO. WOOOOOOOOO

  49. Bob Byrne Says:

Yeah the tagline fro the launch should be:
‘This Valentines Day, FUCK YOUR BIRD and come down to the Shaw’
    Stall it down.

  50. uiscebot Says:

Shouldnt that be come all over the Shaw?

  51. Kyle Says:

“Bob sez : Yep I splashed out on the matt cover, just for you”

Ew, Bob, is that how you’re “personalising” the preorders?

  52. Anthony Says:

I just fucking paid 24 bucks for this thing, it better be good! I bet there was a time in your career when you couldn’t give this shit away. Nah, just giving you a hard time, i know this will be good because i’ve seen panels and you’re not american. It won’t be watered down mindless SHIT. plus i like to support people who struggled for their sucess. If i find out this is a sham im gonna get you!!!!!

  53. Bob Byrne Says:

Dont worry chief, it pisses on all those lame comics you’ve been forced to read. It really is a great book and the sheer work to page ratio is worth the cash alone. Slurp, now I must stop sucking my own dick. No I can’t it tastes like popcorn.

  54. Dec Says:

Hey boss. Good luck with the launch tonight. Sorry i can’t make it.

    Dec.

  55. frankp Says:

Due to a crazy week, I only just got a chance to read Mr Amperduke this morning. Shunned work and stayed in bed to read it.

Excellent stuff. More disturbing than I had expected, I’m sure I’ve had nightmares featuring some similar characters… however the ending makes sure your spirit is settled before leaving the universe of Mr Amperduke…

Some feat to tell that story without words.

Nice one Bob, a colossal achievemment.

  56. Steve C Says:

Bob, congratulations on the launch. I’ve been reading your rants for a couple of years now and ordered by copy of Mr Amperduke, and guess what, this is the first time I’ve had something to say, and it’s not that much.

    Again, congratulations!

  57. Bob Byrne Says:

Cheers Steve, hope you like the book and comment whenever you want bro! Comments are my heroin.

  59. Mister Amperduke by Bob Byrne Says:

[...] Got my signed copy of Mister Amperduke by Bob Byrne in the post today. Thanks Bob. I’ve just read the first chapter, although I don’t think read is quite the right word. There is no narrative text in the whole book. Bob has diligently stuck to using a graphic lexicon, which means it’ll travel well! I think digesting might be a better description of how you experience this book, and from the outset its level of detail is arresting. This is a graphic novel that appears to have been shot on paper, rather than drawn, and the trailer above really underscores its cinematic quality. [...]

  60. Kyle Says:

Wewt, received my copies today! Only just got in the door so haven’t had a chance to read it yet. In fact, why am I faffing about on t’internet when I could be reading it???

    *runs off*

  61. Paul Says:

FINISHED. ABSALOUTLY BRILLIANT BOB. LOVED IT

  62. Allan Cavanagh Says:

Got mine today as well. It’s great.

  63. chris Says:

Amperduke ticks every box for me man. Looks great, is a good idea and has so far proven v unpredictable. Top marks!

  66. MK Says:

Just read Amperduke last night mate - I have to say it is narratively tighter than a homophobe’s arsehole at a pride parade.

Well worth the wait…my only quibbly, why did he let the padlock stop him after he had forcibly disarmed two cops and stolen an ambulance.

  67. tomm Says:

nice one. just read it. will do so again and again i’m sure. well done! whens the next one ready? heh

  68. Anthony Says:

Mysterious package with no return address arrived today. The postage stamp with its weird quasi-English reminded me that a certain parcel was on its way. AWESOMENESS!!
