Anybody seen BARAKA? Watched it over the weekend and it rocked my world. Absolutely inspiring, depressing and thought provoking.
So here are some more ancient sketches, rather than call each post Ancient Sketches Number 134 or whatever, I’ve decided to name them something odd to see if people are searching for these terms.
Leave me alone.
From 1999, I was so lazy then. I took a job in a bakery working 8pm to 8am 3 days a week telling myself I’d have loads of time to work on comics. But no, I smoked dope and beat my dick like it owed me money.
Not too ancient from 2005. This will be a great comic when I figure out what I’m doing, have tonnes of it written but I really don’t want to be described as having done a comic about elves in a mystical Dark Crystal knock off world.

BARAKA is amazing. Came across a similar film called “Naqoyqatsi” which, while not as good as Baraka, is still pretty awe-inspiring. They have it in Laser.
I’m likeing the the arrow pointing to the guy in the first sketch - “shot in the balls”.

Yeah I IMDB’d it and theres 3 films in that other series. Heh yeah!! the stupid little arrows and descriptions, leave me alone I was only…..20.

I`m getting more of a teenage mutant ninja turtles vibe of that last one…
and looks like he`s about to be subjected to unrelenting harsh robot bum-sex!
but on another note,I`ve got a lovely little wacom bamboo here beside me!

Wahey! good man Luke, did you get Painter Essentials with it? If not download the Corel Painter Trial and make the most of it, I think its a 60 day trial now.
Just don’t be afraid to experiment. Send me on your doodles or put them on yer blog.

Luke - you could try out the likes of Inkscape (http://www.inkscape.org/), the GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) or GIMPShop (http://www.gimpshop.com/) if you’re not sure what graphics program to use. They’re all free open-source stuff, and might be worth checking out if you don’t want to have to splash on full-versions of commercial programs…

Baraka is a silent movie, well there’s music but there’s no dialogue or narrative. Just a bunch of amazingly shot scenes from around the world.
The Gimp is good.
