Joe Duffy, one of the highest paid broadcasters in Ireland is an incompetent, sensationalist tabloid ‘journalist’ posing as the voice of a nation.

Read the Wikipedia page about how his scaremongering incited a national panic about the stability of the banking system. He’s a dope.

Listen here to him mumble, stutter and generally just be a clown. That’s the one thing I really don’t like about his show, for all his grandstanding and village gossiping posing as noble public crusades, he then dumps on whatever credibility he may have by dedicating every Friday show to ‘Funny Friday’. Where hack comedians make childish songs about the weeks events. So Monday to Thursday it’s sexual abuse, cot deaths and suicides then on Friday they all play the banjo and sing songs about the Celtic Tiger.

I originally had him saying much, much worse things in the soundboard but after weeks of listening to him I realised I don’t hate him. He’s just a bloke who rose to this position by default, he used to jump into bathtubs full of beans for charity etc as the roving reporter for the larger, genuine talent but as they retired and due to tremendous lack of talent in RTE they just gave this slot, one of the most listened to radio shows in Ireland.

    The thing I hate about him most is how he is always going on about how the college system in Ireland is set up so people like him (from a working class area) will find it harder to get into college, and will be shunned by the students if they can get a place on a course.

    1. College entry is based entirely on how many points you get. Your da’s salary is irrelevant.

    2. College is free.

    3. He went to Trinity college and was the head of the students union. This point alone shits on his argument.

    Good soundboard though. :)

    After hearing Joe’s criticism of the Rubberbandits and the insiuation that they are promoting drug use, I have a question;
    search Weila Waila – The Dubliners (Late Late Show)
    and watch an audience of pensioners clapping along to ..

    are the dubliners promoting the death penalty here? I think we should dedicate about 15mins on the point, maybe drag in a Politician who thinks the Dubliners are ok and put some words in his mouth while we’re at it, don’t you?
