Phil Barrett is the best Irish comic artist in my opinion, I have followed his work for over a decade now and he continues to grow and refine his beautiful ink technique every time he draws something new.

O’Brien Press have just published his new book Where’s Larry? , an insanely detailed cartoon book in the same vein as Where’s Wally but with an Irish spin.

A few years ago I made a few samples for the same book but just couldn’t get it right. There’s no way to cut corners! Phil blew my efforts out of water on his first try.

Here’s one of my coloured samples, even though I drew them digitally my hand nearly fell off. And the result looks messy and lifeless.
